In the wake of the beloved Russian baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky’s untimely passing in November 2017, tributes, memorials and musical event dedications have flowed non-stop. But none thus far has matched the sheer scope, power and sonic splendor of this all-Russian performance of Verdi’s blockbuster Requiem Mass. The all-star cast of soloists—soprano Dinara Alieva, mezzo-soprano Olesya Petrova, tenor Francesco Meli and bass Dmitry Belosselsky—sing their hearts out for Dmitri, under the baton of the vaunted Maestro Yuri Temirkanov leading the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bolshoi Theater Chorus. The result is an incredibly heartfelt and moving musical tribute to one of the greatest baritones who has ever lived.

Marking the debut orchestral recording of legendary Lang Lang’s illustrious career, this album includes the pianist’s performance of Piano Concerto No 3 in D minor, Op 30 with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra from Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in 2001. It also features his solo performance of a variety of Scriabin’s Etudes. This reissue was mastered from the original Soundstream tapes by Paul Blakemore, cut by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound, and pressed on 180g double vinyl, pressed at Optimal.

Austrian pianist Ingolf Wunder won second prize at the 2010 Warsaw International Chopin Competition, demonstrating how skillfully he plays works by the great Polish composer. On this 2014 release, Wunder revisits his beloved Chopin and presents two of the greatest hits in the piano repertoire: Chopin’s and Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concertos, recorded live at St. Petersburg’s 2012 White Nights Festival.
