Larks’ Tongue in Aspic 50th anniversary 2 x blu-ray +2CD box set
50th anniversary reissue • 2023 Steven Wilson Dolby Atmos Mix, 5.1 mix and stereo mix • Plus Complete Recording Sessions & more • Release date: 20 October 2023
King Crimson’s 1973 album Larks’ Tongues in Aspic is presented as this all encompassing four-disc set that includes brand new Steven Wilson Dolby Atmos, 5.1 and stereo mixes and “the complete recordings of every session recorded for the album”.
This set comprises two blu-ray audio discs and two CDs. The first blu-ray contains Steven Wilson’s brand new Dolby Atmos Mix which is described as “more expansive than the earlier mixes as released in 2012, while still retaining and enhancing the core power of the original material”. Since Wilson’s Atmos process involves going back to the multi-track tapes and first building a new stereo mix and then a 5.1 surround mix, we are presented with three brand news mixes for this product.
While Steven was working on this aspect of the material Alex R. Mundy and David Singleton were mixing every single take of the original studio sessions. These unreleased early takes are presented not as traditionally blended pieces, but with maximum separation, with the idea being to mimic “the experience of sitting in the studio with the individual elements being performed around you”.
David Singleton’s ‘Elemental mixes’ apply this same approach to the main album takes to give a fresh view on the familiar, with the focus often falling in unusual places, some originally hidden, some unused. Four of the album’s core tracks feature: extended mixes of ‘Larks’ 1’ and ‘Talking Drum’ along with ‘Easy Money’ and ‘Larks’ 2’. This material is also on the first blu-ray alongside Wilson’s three mixes and some instrumental mixes.
Thanks to the capacity of the blu-ray audio format, the second blu-ray disc contains the complete recordings of every session recorded for the album. As stated, all of this material has been newly mixed from the original performances and is presented on disc for the first time in hi-res 24/96 stereo. This second blu-ray also includes the original stereo mixes of the album and David Singleton’s audio documentary of the album recording Keep That One, Nick. These are the sole previously released elements in this package (both were included in the 2012 box set).
As if all that’s not enough, there’s two CDs. The first includes the 2023 stereo mix and instrumentals of the album and the second offers the elemental mixes and selected master reels.
In terms of packaging these four discs come in two gatefold sleeved editions with a new booklet with new notes by King Crimson biographer Sid Smith. All of this slots into a rigid outer slipcase. In other words, this sounds consistent with the 2019 In The Court of the Crimson King 3CD+blu-ray offering.
This is issued by Panegyric on 20 October 2023.

Blu-ray features the album in 5.1 surround sound, as well as Dolby Atmos, a first for any Yes album!
A collection of intricate, lush and layered songs, Mirror to the Sky marks a bold progression from one of the most innovative bands in music history!
“This is a very important album for the band,” says Steve Howe, Yes’ longest serving member, master guitarist, and producer of Mirror to the Sky, the band’s 23rd studio album. “We kept the continuity in the approach we established on The Quest, but we haven’t repeated ourselves. That was the main thing. As Yes did in the seventies from one album to another, we’re growing and moving forward. In later years, Yes often got going but then didn’t do the next thing. This album is demonstrative of us growing, and building again.”
For Yes, that “next thing” is a collection of high energy, intricate, lush and layered new studio songs for an album which adds to the band’s much heralded legacy, while charting a path to exciting future times ahead.
Mirror to the Sky is available as a Limited Deluxe Electric Blue 2LP+2CD+Blu-Ray artbook with poster, which features the album in pristine 5.1, as well as Dolby Atmos, a first for any Yes album. Also included on the Blu-Ray are high-resolution stereo & instrumental mixes. Cover art by Roger Dean.

The Eagles’ Hotel California was a critical and commercial phenomenon when it was released in December 1976. The album topped the Billboard charts for eight weeks in the U.S., won two GRAMMY® Awards, sold more than 32 million copies around the world, and featured two Billboard #1 hit singles. 40 years later, it still ranks as one of the best-selling albums of all time.
The set also marks the debut of ten live tracks that were recorded during the band’s three-night stand at the Los Angeles Forum in October 1976. The concert recordings — which were recorded about a month before the album came out — feature one of the first ever live performances of “Hotel California” and “New Kid In Town” along with other Eagles classics including “Already Gone,” “Take It To the Limit,” and “Witchy Woman.”
The Eagles made their triumphant return to the stage this summer at the Classic East/West festivals, earning raves from critics and fans alike. More live dates are planned for this fall, with the band being joined on stage once again by country superstar Vince Gill and Deacon Frey, son of Eagles founder, Glenn Frey.

In the fall of 1969, Van Morrison entered the studio to record Moondance, the album that would soon become his commercial breakthrough and one of the most beloved recordings of all time. Fans will soon have the rare opportunity to experience this classic album like never before with the newly remastered and expanded version featuring 50 unreleased tracks including studio outtakes of favorites, plus multiple takes and a final mix of the unheard track “I Shall Sing.”
The Deluxe Edition includes 4 CDs/1 Blu-Ray Audio with newly remastered version of the original album, three discs of previously unreleased music from the sessions, a Blu-Ray Audio disc with high-resolution 48K 24 bit PCM stereo and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound audio of original album (no video). The package is presented in a linen-wrapped folio Includes a booklet with liner notes from Alan Light and original engineer Elliot Scheiner.
The Deluxe Edition unearths an amazing trove of unreleased gems that take the listener right alongside Morrison and his band in studio. There are multiple, often lengthy, takes from the recording sessions of nearly every track found on the 1970 original, including “Glad Tidings,” “Brand New Day” and “Come Running.” There are also early takes of “I’ve Been Working,” a song that would appear later that year on His Band And The Street Choir. The early version included here is quite different from the official album version. The Deluxe Edition also includes a Blu-Ray audio disc with high-resolution stereo and surround mixes of the original album, mixed by original engineer Elliot Scheiner, who also oversaw the new re-mastering of the album.
One of the most significant revelations is “I Shall Sing,” a Morrison original that was completed but left off the album. There are multiple takes of the song (spread across six tracks), plus a final mix of the finished song. While no one has heard Morrison’s version, Art Garfunkel had a Top 40 hit with the song, which appeared on his 1973 solo debut. (more…)

“Interview” was the eighth studio album of Gentle Giant and was released April 23rd, 1976. Stylistically it continued in the vein of their preceding album, “Free Hand” released the year before. “Interview” further displayed the eclectic and versatile nature of the band, from reggae influenced grooves to ethereal a cappella vocal passages and furiously complex rockers. Award winning producer and musician Steven Wilson has remixed “Interview” in Dolby Atmos and 5. 1 surround sound. Wilsons attention to detail and deep respect for the source material makes the album sound as fresh today as it did on first release. In addition, the original flat mix, original 1976 quad mix and an instrumental mix will all be included on a CD/Blu-ray.

“The Big Express is the closest we’ve come to a concept album. It’s full of Swindon and the depths of life there that run through me, Colin and Dave (and Terry, of course). It is populated by members of our families, our hopes and dreams. The things we wished for or feared, a stew of memories.” – Andy Partridge
XTC’s seventh album, “The Big Express”, was virtually ignored upon its release, much like its immediate predecessor “Mummer”. If “Mummer” was XTC’s quiet album, “The Big Express” was the exact opposite: bright, shrill, loud – occasionally even overloaded when the song demanded it – as it became a kind of concept album, a partly autobiographical reflection on growing up in an industrial town, Swindon, with its history of engineering and railways.
Perhaps in keeping with this tradition of technical innovation, the album also made extensive use of (then) new technologies such as Linn drum programming (alongside drummer Peter Phipps), the E-mu emulator and other synthesizers, which took its place in the classic guitar, bass and drum line-up, and helped support the vocals.
This technology was juxtaposed with that of a slightly earlier pop/rock era, when phasing, tapes played backwards and the use of the Mellotron hinted at a psychedelic influence that would become more prominent with the band’s next project – “The Dukes of Stratosphear”. With XTC no longer touring, the sound was radically different from any previous XTC album, in a musical climate where the top end of the charts was mirrored by national radio, delivering the most mainstream output in years: Lionel Richie, Sade, Spandau Ballet, Howard Jones, Tina Turner, Queen – Frank Sinatra’s last solo studio album…. the space for a metallic post-punk concept album about growing up amidst the ghosts of Swindon’s industrial heritage was not there.
Of course, the songs were as good as on any other XTC album – a very high standard indeed – but they went largely unheard. Given this position, it would be easy to conclude that the timing of the album was wrong. But the best musicians follow the music and allow time to catch up with them; which is exactly what happened when XTC released their next album “Skylarking” in 1986. Just as the reputation (and sales figures) of “Mummer” have risen over the years, “The Big Express” is now considered a neglected classic of its era.
Now the album has been remixed by Steven Wilson in stereo, 5.1 surround sound and Dolby Atmos to bring out the full impact and power of the album. Studio-quality audio samples have already been given to an invited audience in London and LA at the L-Acoustics studios. The reaction was collective amazement at the many new details and the clarity of the Atmos mixes. As always with XTC, the complete package on the Blu-ray disc includes every recorded song from that era, from the demos to the aforementioned Spatial Audio mixes.

Pink Floyd founder member and keyboard player Richard Wright’s debut solo album, Wet Dream, is to be reissued on this blu-ray audio format with Dolby Atmos, 5.1 and new stereo mixes by Steven Wilson. The original stereo mix is also included.
This reissue comes with brand new artwork that was commissioned and art-directed by Gala and Jamie Wright, Richard’s children and managers of his estate. This time, the unidentified person in bright red shorts is swimming within deep blue waters of the sea rather than a pool and the image expands out to reveal a boat slightly out of their reach, referencing the nautical theme of the record.
The image was taken by Costas Spathis, a photographer living and working in Greece, which is where the album was written and the graphic design is by Carl Glover.
Upon rediscovering this record, it becomes hugely apparent how much of Richard’s DNA runs through Pink Floyd. His distinct rhythm patterns, song structure and style of play exudes throughout, shining a light on his unique talent and influence on modern music.
When originally released, post Pink Floyd’s ‘Animals’ (1977) and shortly before ‘The Wall’ (1979), ‘Wet Dream’ was largely under-appreciated.
Steven Wilson’s mix gives new life to the record demonstrating Wright’s brilliance. He wrote and produced the whole album himself and it was one of only three albums released outside of Pink Floyd: Broken China, his second solo album from 1996 and Identity released in 1983 under the guise of Zee, a duet with Dave Harris from Fashion.
This blu-ray edition of Wet Dream features the following audio streams:
Dolby Atmos MIx
5.1 Surround Mix (DTS-HD Master Audio 96/24)
New Stereo Mix in Hi-Res (96/24)
Flat transfer of the original stereo mix
Steven Wilson instrumental stereo mixes of the four vocal tracks on the album
Exclusive personal videos and photo gallery
The blu-ray is presented in a blu-ray-sized book format with soft touch lamination and comes with four collectible postcards and an 8-page concertina booklet.
This Wet Dream blu-ray is released on 20 October 2023, via Parlophone.
