Rosedale is first of all a French duo consisting of Amandyn Roses and Charlie Fabert. Both have the music genes in their blood. Amandyn Roses initially delved into playing the accordion and piano. Then she decided to sing, was a year at the Music Academy International in Nancy. This institute is associated with the prestigious Berklee College Of Music. In 2013, the two musicians met and in 2016 they finally went as Rosedale at the start.
Charlie Fabert has experienced a lot, seen a lot and worked with many artists. So he played guitar for Fred Chapellier. Together, they were present at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2012, as well as such names as Roger Cotton (Peter Green), Bill Hurley (The Inmates) or Alan Glen (The Yardbirds, Dr. Feelgood, Nine Below Zero) on his List of activities. In addition, the French musician was founder of The Charlie Fabert Blues Band.
All song credits feature the name Charlie Fabert. Five of the nine compositions come exclusively from the artist and right at the beginning of “Long Way To Go” the listener can convince himself of the high level of ideas of a Charlie Fabert. In addition, the man also plays a very good blues tone on the opener. But you are not only very pleased with the guitar work. Amandyn Roses’ voice has that certain something that sets her apart from the crowd of 12-bar vocalists. Even if the opening of “Bad News” sounds a bit restrained, the piece sets off on an amazing path of dynamism, culminating in the thrilling six-string solo. Great!
The interest in Rosedale’s blues was sparked by the almost six minutes that followed, and what the following “Soul Possession” has to offer has class. The song features keyboarder Larry L. Telford, one of the two guests on the present album. The number is voluminous, with a lot of drive, and Rosedale likes keyboards, because five of the nine tracks are accompanied by keyboard sounds of different kinds. As you know, you can not stand on one leg. The stakes of the guests takes place one behind the other. “Man, I Do not Want You Around,” written in the trio by Amandyn Roses, Charlie Fabert, and Fred Chapellier, is the hot time of Groove-charged blues, with a slight Southern flair. Man, this with a lot of momentum and riffigem guitar high pressure presented song is really a highlight. Amandyn Roses also has excellent rock enzymes on the vocal cords. Since it may be in front of the vocal microphone in phases quietly also approach a bit provocative. The guitar edge is nothing but great!
The first three songs spray in front of differently designed energy and with “I Will Never Let You Go”, the singer pushes cheekily into the foreground of the song. Wonderful as she embodies the highly emotional feel of the track with her vocals, and Charlie Fabert is naturally at eye level with Amandyn Roses with his sensuous ride on the Fretboard. Ravishing ballad. The title track takes the listeners back to the blues groove and this kind of great entertainment can be found in the bouncer “New Frontier”, the longest track on the album. Only Charlie Fabert has shouldered the acoustic guitar here and initially there is no other accompaniment for the singer. The hypnotic reef groove of the acoustic remains and then, when the band starts, a remarkable electric guitar solo moves up. With beautiful vocal effects, the number is then also psychedelic. What an incredible conclusion! “Lost Soul” is short and crisp rocking and “Before You” is like an umbrella, which protects you from the wet on a rainy night with its threadbare lantern light, off the main traffic arteries.
Man, Rosedale makes a real impression on the listener and if you take the title track of the album “Long Way To Go” as the basis for a view, then in my view it is not such a long way for the combo to get out of the clutter of the Secret Tips has peeled out. Sure, the second album is always butter in the fish, but Rosedale will probably meet the increased demands.
